This was the part of the day Yukari had been dreading from the start, and her reason was likely already setting up inside the dorm’s common room.[break][break]
Earlier that morning she’d been too sleepy to juke the ever diligent Mitsuru Kojiro--the start of her demise--who’d been dangling a crisp sheet of paper in front of her like a disappointed mother. She could read her name and saw the school’s insignia, so she guessed it was their transcripts....which had already spelt bad news. Yukari wasn’t a slacker by any means, but a grade or two had slipped over the past few weeks and she hadn’t had time to turn in extra credit to bump them back up. Sue her![break][break]
Instead she’d been badgered into a grueling study session with her senior, a prospect that made her both apprehensive and jittery. Mitsuru wouldn’t push her /too/ hard, would she? All signs pointed to unclear.[break][break]
Raising her head up in a brave attempt she pushed open the doors and headed inside, greeting the upperclassman with a bright smile and a little wave.[break][break]
“Kirijo-senpai! I didn’t keep you waiting too long, did I?” Slowly making her way to the opposing couch Yukari pulled out her notebook, attempting to look more prepared than she actually felt when facing her senior.[break][break]

Disappointment. That is what Mitsuru felt upon discovering that Yukari had been failing some of her classes. While the two weren’t particularly close nor friends, she had always assumed Yukari was doing decent in her classes. She would’ve expected this of Junpei or even Akihiko – but Yukari? No, not at all. Had she not made it obvious enough to the other SEES that they should focus on their studies whenever they could? Mayhaps this was a failure on her own part somehow? And thus, she had taken the responsibility of helping this lost soul! [break] [break]
All books of every class were neatly placed upon the table in the common room, neatly organized per class. It was little to say that the Kirijo heir was more than ready to aid her teammate in any subject that she might be struggling with. [break] [break]
Taking a seat unto the couch as arms crossed in front of her chest, a satisfied nod was given while glancing over at the books. Glancing up when watching Yukari enter, a small smile curled onto Mitsuru’s lips. [break] [break]

It was a gamble for Mitsuru due to their . . complicated acquaintance. She wasn’t entirely sure what she was with the other. Teammates? Yes. Friends? Far from it. So, to see the girl actually turn up to this study session, was certainly positive in her eyes. [break] [break]

“O-Of course I’d show up!!” Had she really been that easy to see through? Yukari couldn’t have ghosted the woman if she’d been waiting in the common room anyway, and archery club had also been called off with their midterms creeping up on them. Even if she’d /wanted/ to avoid showing up to the scene, eventually she would’ve had to. Why postpone it when she could take it with her head held high? “Y-You’re just trying to look out for me…”[break][break]
Glancing down at the mass of books, she couldn’t help but feel a little flattered; Mitsuru was willing to go to some extensive lengths to help her get her grades up. Was it simply because she was the club leader and she felt the need to? She couldn’t say for sure. But it was nice, having someone that cared that much. Even if the companionship between them was a little rocky.[break][break]
“Truthfully, Algebra and Biology are where I’m struggling the most right now…” Those two books were laying right on the top of the pile, too. Imagine that. Mitsuru was a practical mind-reader and she likely didn’t even realize it. “How about we start with Bio first? If we try and get through the Math first, I might spontaneously combust.”

”Ofcourse. I cannot allow you or the others to fail your finals because we frequent or nights by going to Tartarus”, Mitsuru simply explained while arms crossed over her chest. After all, it was she who often times found herself pursuing the others to leave for Tartarus if it had been a while – they couldn’t slack off, after all. Be it strengthening themselves and exploring Tartarus, or on their academics for class. And while she knew others really needed the help, she figured she’d help those first who needed little aid, so she could spend all the time necessary with the others who needed all of her attention.[break][break]
”Alright, that sounds like a great idea. I wouldn’t want you to quit half-way.” With a light smile on her lips, she nodded once eyes were fluttered close. Sounds like algebra would be quite the challenge for Yukari, then. But honestly, was it really a surprise? She had noticed most students either suffered with algebra or English – so she had expected one of the two to be a potential issue for her companion. But no matter, she would attempt her best – no, she would ensure Yukari could understand and solve even the most complex of equations.[break][break]
Reaching over at the multiple small piles on the table, Mitsuru took hold of the book of the subject they would first focus on; biology. Nimbly going through the pages once the book rested 'pon her lap, she soon took a glance over to the brunette. ”Is there anything specific that confuses you? Or is it just biology in general?” She asked – after all, she had to know what Yukari was suffering most with, there was no logic in going over things that she already did understand.

Her notebook was brought closer to her chest while the upperclassman spoke, skimming over what little notes she had to assess her problem areas. It seemed cell structures, mitosis, and meiosis were the places she was truly having difficulty, if the frantic scrawling her notes were gave any inclination. Could she really be this bad in a field her father likely excelled in? It was highly possible. And the more she looked down at the jumbled notes, the more she realized how true it really was. “U-Uh...how about we start with cell structure? My professor has been hounding me about getting the plant and animal cell structures down, but I’m...it’s just not connecting as well as I’d like it to.”[break][break]
Did that sound like an intelligent way of saying I’m completely and utterly lost? It was possible. Putting it bluntly might have Mitsuru chiding her for more than her grades if she had.[break][break]
But through it all, she couldn’t help but feel grateful that the redhead was even doing this; sure everyone’s grades were of high importance to Mitsuru, but Yukari was decent enough on her scores that falling behind wouldn’t be the worst thing to come back from. Maybe...this study session could actually do her some good, thinking from that standpoint.[break][break]
Scooting closer to the table she eyed the biology book, simply waiting for the part where Mitsuru pointed out her ineptitude. Would she even actually do that? Probably not, but Yukari couldn’t help worrying anyway.
